Lophophora williamsii, Peyote, is a small cactus native to Mexico, Texas and New Mexico. Peyote cacti develop a pronounced beet-like taproot and a spherical aboveground "head". Peyote can reach up to 20 cm in diameter and live for about 20 years. At
the base of the cactus, numerous side shoots can sprout and form new "heads". Instead of spines, peyote cacti form a brush-like bright tuft of hair. With good care in the summer it can show white or pink flowers. Peyote cacti play a significant role in a number of ancient American cultures, and some Central American grave figurines from around 200 BCE show pictures of the plant.
Due to import restrictions we are unable to ship Lophophora williamsii seed to the USA!

Growing instructions
Sow cactus seeds in sandy soil. Do not cover the small seeds with soil, but press them gently into moist cactus substrate. Cover with a transparent lid or foil to keep seeds in constant moisture, and at temperatures of about 25-28 °C they will germinate after 2 weeks. Generally, but especially in winter - the dormant period - the plants should be watered very carefully. Read more about growing peyote.

Überraschend schnell im Wachstum

5 of 5 stars
by Enna on 4/17/18
