Wild chili peppers also amazingly still exist today and have given life to the approx. 1000 chili species cultivated world-wide. Their chilies tend to be quite small in size, with the 'tepin chili' being one of the most known wild seed species of
the capsicum annuum-varieties from Mexico.
In Mexico wild chili seeds are still hand-picked, dried and marketed, however, due to the labour intense process, they can be very expensive.
