In general, the best sowing-time for tomato seeds is about 6- 8 weeks before the last expected frosts in spring. Since tomatoes have their roots in the tropical regions of South America and require relatively high temperatures to germinate, they are started indoors and pre-cultured in greenhouses or on the windowsill in the house in almost all climates, until they have developed enough to be transplanted into the garden. Ideal germination temperature: + 24-28 °C, plenty of light, keep soil moist. We therefore recommend the use of a mini greenhouse for sowing.

- Tomato 'Rose de Berne' The tomato variety 'Rose de Berne' is an old Swiss cultivar famous for its divine flavour. Typically these soft pink tomatoes reach different sizes, often varying between a salad-, and a beefsteak tomato, weighing approx. 100-300 gr.
- Tomato 'Green Zebra' The tomato variety 'Green Zebra' is an absolute classic amongst the old heirloom tomato varieties. In the past, growing green tomato varieties was very popular as they had gained a reputation for their delicious fruity aromas and for being very robust.
- Black tomato 'Black Russian'This Russian black tomato variety is very aromatic and tangy.
- Tomato 'Pineapple'The tomato variety 'Pineapple' originates from the United States and develops lovely orange tomatoes, which hardly have any seeds but may reach quite a large size. Therefore they are ideal for slicing and for sandwiches. They are wonderfully juicy and their sweet-fruity aroma is truly outstanding.
- Tomato 'Yellow Ruffled' The beefsteak tomato 'Yellow Ruffled' is a very old variety, possibly deriving from the 17th century. Its large, golden-yellow tomatoes are defined by their pronounced, ribbed appearance and being hollow inside, they are ideal for stuffing.
