Wild vegetables are simply edible wild plants. These so-called wild vegetables often have an intense aroma and are rich in valuable ingredients. Many of these plants can be found growing as 'weeds' in the wild, in fields and wastelands.

It can be particularly successful to grow wild vegetables in the garden, because these plants often develop unexpectedly well under culture conditions.
This seed kit contains 5 wild vegetable plants and wild herbs:
  • Green purslane (Portulaca oleracea)
Purslane is a local plant and tastes delicious in salads, hence it has already been popular since the middle ages. The succulent, crunchy leaves have a fresh and tangy flavour and light acidity.
  • Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis)
The tubers of the evening-primrose contain starch, taste very aromatic and are very healthy.
  • Scurvy grass (Cochlearia officinalis)
Scurvy grass is rich in vitamin c and its spoon-shaped leaves have a cress like sharpness and are a delicious addition to any salad.
  • Ramsons, Bear Garlic, Wild Garlic (Allium ursinum)
Wild garlic's natural habitat is semi-shaded forests but it also grows well in domestic gardens. Its leaves and tubers are said to have health promoting properties and it has a lovely garlicky flavour.
  • Wild carrot, Bird's nest, Bishop's lace, Queen Anne's lace (Daucus carota ssp. carota)
This wild form of our common carrot develops rather skinny roots, which tend to lignify but have a wonderful intense aroma and delicate texture when harvested early.
The seeds of each variety are packaged in a separate sachet.
