Many plant species contain essential oils, saponins and many other ingredients that have curative effects on the human body. The so-called "folk medicine" has been transmitted and developed over thousands of years and uses many of these properties
as tea, plant extracts, compresses, wraps and ointments for a variety of diseases.
This seed set contains 12 traditional, long-established varieties of medicinal herbs that no herb garden should be without:
  • Milfoil yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
    An important medicinal plant known since ancient times, which has an expectorant, digestive, wound healing, antispasmodic and antibacterial effect.
  • Garden angelica (Angelica archangelica)
    Impressive, robust, aromatic wild perennial from Scandinavia. An old medicinal plant whose fleshy roots strengthen nerves, relieve cramps and promote digestion.
  • Marigold (Calendula officinalis)
    Uncomplicated, colourful medicinal plant that has an anti-inflammatory effect and promotes wound healing. However, it also has many other excellent qualities.
  • St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum)
    Known as a medicinal plant since ancient times. Proven mood-lifting remedy for depressive moods and nervous restlessness.
  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
    Lavender is a low shrub that is very common in the rocky coastal regions of the Mediterranean and is known for its uniquely scented purple flowers. It is very popular both with people and bees.
  • Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)
    An all-round talent among the old, traditional medicinal plants. Camomile blossom tea should always be available in the cupboard.
  • Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis)

  • Mullein (Verbascum densiflorum)
    Mullein is an old medicinal plant that is used for respiratory diseases. It also has a long tradition as a incense herb.
