This is certainly due to the fact that all the night shade plants contain many active ingredients which can be toxic to humans, which is why one should not eat raw potatoes for example.

This seed kit contains 5 witches plant varieties:

• White angel trumpet (Brugmansia suaveolens)
  Tropical nightshade plant with fantastically beautiful fragrant trumpet blossoms. Impressive container plant.
• Belladonna (Atropa belladonna var. belladonna)
  A well-known medicinal and magical plant due to its high atropine content. The name 'Belladonna' (Italian: 'Beautiful Woman') is derived from the mucus-expanding effect that women in earlier times actually used for beauty reasons.
• Woodland tobacco/ flowering tobacco/ South American tobacco (Nicotiana sylvestris)
  Woodland tobacco is native to the eastern Andes, a region, which describes a habitat dominated by nutrient-rich mountain forest soils and high humidity levels. Woodland tobacco is considered the predecessor of most of today's commonly cultivated tobacco varieties.
• Henbane bell, Russian belladonna (Scopolia carniolica)
  Rather inconspicuous medicinal and poisonous plant, which was presumably a component of old witch ointment recipes.
• Black henbane (Hyoscyamus niger)
  Black henbane is an old plant variety which has been put to use already in the medieval ages. The species belongs to the nightshades.
