Unfortunately it is not always easy to find some of the traditional ingredients but a lot of them grow well in our climates and it is really worth considering growing your own fresh supplies. In particular the leaf vegetables and herbs are easy to grow and do really well in pots or boxes on windowsills or the balcony.

For this seed kit we hand selected 4 typically traditional Asian vegetable varieties:

• Mizuna/ Japanese mustard (Brassica rapa var. nipposinica)
  Mizuna is a lovely fast growing and regrowing leaf vegetable variety, with a wonderful peppery flavour.
• Bunching onion 'Ishikura' (Allium fistulosum)
  'Ishikura' is a robust, mild tasting Asian spring onion variety, with long white-green 'leafs', which grows well all year around.
• Yardlong bean, Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata)
  This is an exotic, tropical bean variety, which can produce pods with up to 1m lengths, which are prepared similar to our native green beans.
• Bok Choy/ pak choi (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis)
  A traditional Asian leaf-cabbage variety with a superb taste.
