Some vegetable plants manage to resist frosts well and sometimes even need the exposure to cold temperatures, in order to develop their unique aromas. Other vegetables lend themselves particularly well to being stored and therefore can be enjoyed
throughout the winter period.
This seed kit incudes 8 classic winter vegetable plant seeds:
  • Chicory 'Di Bruxelles' (Cichorium intybus)
    A lovely, slightly bitter tasting traditional Italian leaf vegetable variety, which even can be harvested during wintertime when grown indoors or in a green house.
  • Radicchio 'Variegata di Castelfranco' (Cichorium intybus var. foliosum)
    This late, Italian radicchio variety manages to grow throughout light frost periods and stands out for its remarkable appearance: the leaves are light-green/white with splashes of dark-red.
  • Curly kale 'Lerchenzungen' (Brassica oleracea convar. acephala var.sabellica)
    A traditional green-leafed curly kale variety from northern Germany which needs exposure to frosts to develop its true kale flavour.
  • Winter cress (Barbarea vulgaris)
    This plant belonging to the mustard family is high in vitamin c and adds a strong aromatic flavour to your winter salad dishes.
  • Welsh onion (Allium fistulosum)
    Plenty fresh greens paired with a lovely onion aroma, throughout wintertime.
  • Savoy cabbage 'Advent' (Brassica oleracea convar. capitata var. sabauda L.)
    A robust and large-headed savoy cabbage variety, which can be harvested all along right up to springtime.
  • Winter purslane (Montia perfoliata)
    An early, very versatile and healthy leaf vegetable with a lovely flavour.
  • Brussels sprouts 'Evesham Special' (Brassica oleracea)
    'Noisette' is an old, English, heirloom Brussels sprout variety with green crops.
The seeds of each variety are packaged in a separate sachet.
