Description

Superschmelz is a well established kohlrabi variety which can grow very large, but still remains tender - now available as organic seed. The roots can easily reach 3-4 kg, sometimes even up to 8 kg, without becoming tough or bitter - and despite the
size, the aroma does not suffer. The giant heads can be stored very well during winter. This is a variety which is well suited for harvesting in fall, as it has a somewhat longer cultivation time.

Growing instructions

Preculture from March under glass / foil. From the end of April sow directly into in the garden. Sowing depth of about 1 cm. Keep evenly moist. The initial temperatures during the growth phase should not fall below + 12 °C for a longer time, the plant might form no root. Pinch out the emerging plants to a distance of approximately 40cm, don't plant them deeper than before - this might cause growth inhibitions. Likes nutrient-rich soil and plenty of water.
