The Dog Rose is the wild rose variety, which occurs most often in nature. It can be found anywhere in wildly growing hedges and on slopes. Indeed, they are often planted as pioneer plants and soil consolidators on slopes and heaps as well as food
plants in hedges for useful insects and birds, which love their slim, longish rosehips.

This variety is also known under the name corymb rose. It forms many, mostly light pink-coloured, intensely scenting blossoms in June. Infrequently, you can also find varieties in white or strong pink. As a pliable climber, the unconstrained shrub can indeed climb heights of up to five metres. This wild rose variety is most often used as a basis for grafting when cultivating premium roses.

Rose seeds often need two years for germinating. To accelerate the process, cautiously scratch the seeds first and conduct an artificial cold stratification: Therefore, mix the seeds with moist sand in a plastic bag. Keep the bag warm and moist (approx. +27-32°C) in the first 2-4 weeks, put it in the fridge at a temperature of +3°C for 4 months, afterwards, and watch regularly if the seeds germinate.
