Sheep's-Bit, also known as Blue Buttons or Blue Daisy, is a blue-purple-blooming flower. The word "Berg" (English: Mountain) which occurs in all of its German names has less to do with its altitude but is more about the condition of the soil. It
needs a sunny, sour, sandy, or stony location to prosper.

Due to the frequent application of fertilizer, the flower has become rare and is even on the Red List of endangered plants now. To call attention to this rare plant and its decrease, it was crowned flower of the year in 1990. Thanks to its up to one metre deep roots, it can manage drought well.

It's hardy and can be used well for planting dry walls or as a ground-covering plant.
