Many of those varieties are also known from breedings for the garden but the wild varieties most often are more robust and more original in their appearance. Furthermore, the indigenous wild shrubs are often very important for wildlife and suitable as bee, bumblebee, or butterfly plants.

So why don't try out the original wild variety? It preserves biodiversity as many of those plants meanwhile are endangered and worthy of protection.
