Very pretty and conspicuous aubergine variety, which forms egg to bag-shaped dark purple fruits. When ripe, the fruits reach a size of 15-30 cm and a weight of approx. 500g per piece.

  • Sowing time: Because of the long ripening time in our climate, we are happy to be in our house at the end of January / beginning of February.
  • Optimum germination temperature: +24-28°C, at least 1cm deep covered with soil, dark bucket
  • Germination period: 6-10 days. After germination, cool the plants again at approx. +15°C.
  • 2-3 weeks after sowing, prick the plants when the first pair of leaves is fully developed. The roots should be shortened to stimulate healthy root growth.
  • Plant out from mid-May after the last night frosts. The plants should be hardened for a few days beforehand. Don't forget to pour the water.
  • Aubergines need well loosened, permeable soils with a high humus content. They don't like waterlogging.
  • Aubergine plants love warmth and thrive best in the greenhouse. Doesn't mean it's impossible to let them grow outside. But choose the warmest and most sheltered place in your garden to grow eggplants.
  • Eggplants need good fertilizer and in most cases a plant support.
