Green purslane is a medieval lettuce with succulent leaves, which makes a very satisfying salad and was highly appreciated in the Middle Ages. The fleshy leaves taste crisp and fresh with a touch of acidity. The flower buds can be used as a
substitute for capers.

Purslane is rich in vitamin C and omega-3 fatty acids and contains minor amounts of vitamins A, B and E, minerals and trace elements magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron and zinc.

Perennial flowering plant that is poisonous. Cold germinator, sowing outdoors in autumn or early spring. Alternatively, the seeds need an artificial cold treatment in the refrigerator for about 4-6 weeks. Plant young plants outdoors in March or April after the last night frosts. Loves sunny to semi-shady locations.
