The radish species 'Münchner Bier' (Munich beer) is a classic autumn,- winter radish variety.It is therefore recommended to sow the radishes from beginning of June, although it is also possible to grow them all year around.

The crops are delicate, white, rather large and firm radishes, which mature after about 80 days.
True to its name this variety is lovely as a snack with beer and a popular dish, as part of the beer garden culture.
Radishes belong to the ancient cultivated plants going back to 2500BC and there is evidence that they already then had been popular in Egypt and since been spreading around in the Mediterranean area. Today radishes seem to undergo a rediscovery and are lovely, cooked fresh in the wintertime.

Sow outdoors in rows, from May till mid-August, about 1cm deep, 8-10cm away from each other and with a distance of about 30cm between rows.
Radishes thrive in sunny locations and prefer loose soils rich of humus. They do particularly well when earthed up and watered regularly.
