The Armenian Cucumber is an ancient, Asian crop plant that found its way to Europe over Armenia and received its name like that. Botanically speaking, the Armenian Cucumber is a melon. However, most often, it's not harvested fully ripe, used like a
snake gourd, and consumed raw. The skin is thin and doesn't have to be removed.

It has a mild-aromatic taste and is very digestible. If you let it ripe fully, it can reach a length of up to one metre and the pulp contains a rather melon-like taste. In Japanese cuisine, it's known as Uri. In Indian cuisine, it's also known and used boiled in curries.

Although cucumbers can also be sown directly into the open field, indoor pre-culture is recommended. The seedlings are then hardened off and planted after the last frosts. Later, the plants can grow on a tendril or simply crawl on the ground. Plenty of water has a good effect on the fruit quality.
