Azuki is an East Asian, red bean with a sweet-aromatic taste. The so-called "red soybean" is appreciated as the noblest legume among connoisseurs. In Japan, sweet dishes and flour are made from the azuki bean. In general, it's used versatilely in
the Japanese kitchen. It's generally considered better digestible than wide-spread, European garden beans, and a very good dry bean.

In TCM, the bean is also considered a medicinal plant and used against kidney problems, certain tumours, and abscesses.

The adzuki bean is a climbing plant that can grow up to 2m high. Sow outdoors from mid-May or raise in indoor pre-culture first. Cultivation in a greenhouse is also possible. Harvest can be expected in September. Seeds of legumes often germinate better if they are pre-soaked in warm water for a few hours.
