Cavolo nero is a dark green, almost black kale variety from Tuscany. It is not only a highly aromatic lacinato kale specialty from Italy, but also very decorative. Its long beautiful leaves that fold open like a palm tree are an important ingredient
for Italian vegetable dishes such as "Ribollita". Its appearance makes cavolo nero very suitable as a potted or container plant.

More recently, black kale has gained a reputation as a superfood, since it contains an enormous amount of antioxidants.
