While corn poppy is not recognized as a medicinal plant by orthodox medicine, alternative treatments recommend corn poppy petal infusions as a drug against coughs and sore throats and as a sedative for insomnia. Effective ingredients are mainly the alkaloids contained in the milky sap, but the petals are more often used for their content of anthocyanin.
Papaver rhoeas seeds, content: 4000 Poppy seeds

Sowing & cultivation
Corn poppy is sown from March to April directly in the garden or field. Sow the seeds broadcast and only lightly cover with soil. Poppy does not like to be transplanted and rarely survives this procedure. Likes loose garden soils and grows particularly strong with good nitrogen supply. It is also possible to sow poppies in autumn - the plants overwinter and bloom then next year
