Sowing & cultivation
It is a fast-growing perennial herbaceous plant, which tolerates frost up to -15 °C. The seeds need a cold period to germinate and should either be sown outdoors in autumn or require cold stratification before sowing in spring (starting from February).
Suitable for growing the plant is nutritious, sandy, and loamy soil and a location in the half shade, although with very good water supply it also tolerates sunny locations. Moist, calcareous soil favors growth. Flowering time is from May to September but the plant reaches its full bloom and growth height only in the second or third year.
