The parsnip variety 'Tender and True' belongs to the uncomplicated and robust varieties of this anyways easy-to-grow vegetable variety. It forms very long (up to 10 cm) and thick roots that have a fine, slightly nutty, and rather sweet taste. It
even improves by light frosts. Parsnip, therefore, belongs to the winter vegetables that can also be harvested well freshly in late autumn and mild winter. Only in the second year, the plant forms large, beautiful umbels that are carried gracefully by a very high stalk.

In the Roman Empire, parsnip has already been cultivated as a tasty root vegetable. It belonged to every vegetable garden until it was replaced by the cultivation of carrots and potatoes in the 18th century. Today, people in Europe, fortunately, recollect on this uncomplicated and delicious vegetable.

Parsnips can be sown in early March. The ideal time in Central Europe is May. The seeds can possibly be mixed with salad or radish to mark the rows. Sowing depth: 1-2cm. Thin out to a distance of 5-10cm after the sprouting. Row spacing: 30-50cm.
