The kohlrabi variety 'Blauer Delikatess' is a medium-early variety for early summer and summer. It produces mid-sized, flat and round tubers with beautiful, purple colour and upright foliage and is resistant to the bursting of the tubers. It,
however, shouldn't be planted too early as this variety is sensitive.

Blue or purple kohlrabi indeed doesn't distinguish principally from the well-known, light green varieties in taste but is especially well suited for outdoor cultivation and, like that, receives its strong flavour. The dark colour makes it unattractive to many classic predators.

Preculture from March under glass/ foil. From the end of April sow directly into the garden. Sowing depth of about 1 cm. Keep evenly moist. The initial temperatures during the growth phase should not fall below + 12 °C for a longer time, the plant might form no tuber.
Pinch out the emerging plants to a distance of approximately 25cm, don't plant them deeper than before - this might cause growth inhibitions. Likes rich soil and plenty of water. Culture duration: 65 days
