The "Pimenta da Neyde" is said to have originated from a spontaneous crossing of a Capsicum Chinense and a Capsicum annum in the garden of the Brazilian gardener Neyde Hidalgo. That's why the variety bears her name. The whole chili plant is
violet-coloured and looks very decorative. The chilies already have a black-violet colouring before they are ripe and keep it in the full ripeness. They are very aromatic and have the typical fruitiness of a habanero. They are well-suitable for the production of black chili powder.

Chili plants can be cultivated as annuals outdoors or as a perennial pot plant. We recommend hibernating the plants and cultivating them perennially as, especially in the second year, a plentiful harvest can be expected. Push the seeds in the seeding compost and keep them warm (approx. 24°C). Chili seeds need warmth for seeding – therefore, a heated plant propagator can be helpful. Grows well indoors. Loves sunny locations and nutritious soil.
Chilis are very nutrient-loving and benefit from strong nitrogen fertilization.
