This variety was cultivated by the Amish People in the USA in the 18th century and is a traditional variety in America.

The Romaine Lettuce 'Rehzunge' grows very compact with star-shaped, huddled leaves. It doesn't form a head but grows similar to spinach. Its taste is strong and aromatic.

Due to the compact growth, it's also well suited for smaller gardens.

Green Purslane is quite undemanding in location and climate but prefers sunny places. Sowing in the garden in May. Green purslane seeds are only covered gently with soil or simply scattered. Green purslane is also a decorative pot plant for the balcony or terrace. To receive a rich harvest, the blossom buds and the upper sprouts should be removed so that the plant branches stronger. After the bloom, seeds can be harvested with little effort.
