Rosemary is an important spice, especially in Mediterranean cuisine. It is often combined with meat like poultry or lamb but also with vegetables like courgettes and potatoes. Furthermore, rosemary is an inherent part of the classic herb mixtures 'Provencal Herbs' and 'Italian Herbs'.
Rosemary has already been known as an aromatic plant in the 14th century because of its aromatic and resinous scent. Up to now, the essential oil is part of the 'Cologne Water'.

Even older is its usage as a medicinal plant. It's best known for its blood flow enhancing effect and, therefore, is often given as a bath additive which should bring up the circulation. What is also interesting is its antifungal effect on various mushrooms as watery plant extracts are well suitable for plant protection, respectively tonic.

Rosemary loves sunny, relatively dry locations. The planting takes place indoors from mid-March. The fine rosemary seeds are only slightly covered with soil and usually germinate unevenly over a period of 3 to 5 weeks. From mid-May, the seedlings can be taken outdoors.
Rosemary can also be kept as a potted plant - in winter, you shouldn't water it too much. Over the years, the plant often develops into a vigorous shrub.
