The Round Leaved Mint owes its German byname "Apfelminze" (German "Apfel" = English "apple") to the intense apple scent it exudes in the summer months. Like every other mint variety, it can be used well as a cocktail herb, spice, and addition to a
salad. Its taste is comparably mild and well suitable for tea mixtures that shouldn't receive the characteristic menthol flavour of other varieties.

The plant prefers moist locations and forms many offshoots - once it has settled in the garden, it can be barely gotten down.
