The saw palmetto grows in the South East of the USA and is also used for the treatment of prostate afflictions over here. It grows 1 to 3 metres high and is very resistant. It's said to tolerate droughts and floods well. Often kept in pots over
here.
It owes its name to its denticulate leaf stalks, which look like a saw.
From the juice of the sabal, also, an intoxicating palmwine is prepared.

Caribbean dwarf palm tree for the apartment or terrace. Free seeds from the pulp and let them presoak in warm water for several hours (no longer than 1 day). To remain temperature, a thermos bottle is suitable. Then, press them into the sowing compost and keep them warm. Palm seeds often germinate spasmodic and late. Ideal location: First half-shade, later full sun. Hardy in mild, protected locations.
