The Sweet Violet is a scented plant native to Central Europe. It has already been cultivated as a medicinal and decorative plant since antiquity. Of course, it's famous mainly for its typical violet scent which is used for the production of perfume,
as well as in the culinary area for tea, liqueur, syrup, vinegar, and desserts.

The candied violet blossoms are typical for cake and dessert decorations or for a French candy with the beautiful name 'Violettes de Toulouse'. Furthermore, violets also are the first heralds of spring which bring joy to the heart when barely anything is blooming yet.

Main harvest:
The seeds of the perennial Sweet Violet are frost germinators. The seeds are therefore either sown in autumn or the cold treatment has to be carried out using the refrigerator. For this purpose, the seeds are mixed with a small amount of slightly moistened sand (eg. in a freezer bag) and kept at a temperature of 15-20 °C for 2-4 weeks, then at 0-4°C for 4-6 weeks. The seed can then be sown as usual. Grows well in half-shady locations.
