Almost all commercially available cough syrups contain a part of thyme as it's expectorant and anticonvulsant and, at the same time, fights the elicitor of the cough by its antibiotic characteristics. Its flowers are an excellent honey plant.

Sowing & cultivation
Perennial shrub. Winter hardy. Likes lots of sun and permeable, calcareous soil. Prevent waterlogging. Sowing: Germinates very well in preculture. Scatter the seeds onto the substrate, press them on and keep them warm. Grows in the garden as well as in the pot.
