Nicotiana sylvestris is an Indian variety of tobacco with wonderfully fragrant flowers. It's very popular as an ornamental plant because of its gleaming white, up to 8 cm long trumpet flowers with their beguiling scent reminiscent of petunias, which
they release after sundown, attracting lots of moths.
Woodland tobacco originates from the moist, humus-rich mountain forests of the eastern Andes and is considered the predecessor of most of today's cultivated tobaccos.

Annual plant for the garden (under tropical conditions, tobacco may be perennial). Likes lots of sun, water and fertilizer. Sowing: preculture from February. Sprinkle the fine seeds onto the substrate and press down gently, do not cover with soil. Germinates at approx. 20 °C. Harden off and plant out in May.
