millennia-old tradition as a medicinal plant and food. For some time now the food industry and the Super Food movement have discovered Maca because it contains a lot of vitamin B, C and E and trace elements. Maca root is mostly marketed ground in powder form, not as a whole, though.

Maca can be grown from seed unproblematically. The plant is considered to be extremely robust, because in nature it is exposed to the extreme climatic conditions of the Andes (temperature variations, strong winds and intense UV radiation). In the wild, it grows best when its seeds germinate before the rainy season.
Maca seeds should be pressed about half a centimeter deep into the soil and watered immediately. After the sowing and during the entire growth phase the substrate should be kept cool and moist.
