paper and food. A large part of the natural dyes are extracted from plants. Every plant contains some of them, but not all of them can be used sensibly. This seed set contains seeds for 4 traditional, old dye plants:

• Woad (organic) (Isatis tinctoria)
  Woad is an old dyeing plant. In former times it was used to produce indigo blue.
• Yellow Bedstraw (organic) (Galium verum)
  The roots dye a beautiful shade of red similar to the dyer's madder. The flowers are suitable for dyeing yellow.
• Oregano (organic) (Origanum vulgare)
  Oregano is one of the classic Italian kitchen herbs and its leafs are essential for seasoning pizza and plenty other iconic Mediterranean dishes. They dye however wool and cotton also in pleasant brown tones. It is also an important plant for bees and insects, which feed off its nectar.
• Dyer's rocket (organic) (Reseda luteola)
  For centuries the dye plant for yellow. The dye is extracted from above-ground plant parts and is suitable for dyeing all fabrics, but is mainly used for silk and wool.

The seeds of each variety are packaged separately.
