Apart from Coffea Arabica, Coffea Canephora is the commercially most important coffee variety. Out of it, Robusta Coffee is gained. The seeds of Coffea Canephora are very rich in caffeine. They contain up to 4% of the stimulating substance. In
comparison, Arabica Coffee only contains 1-2%. Robusta Coffee plants are - like the name already tells - extraordinarily resistant and are often cultivated in West Africa and East Asia. In the Mediterranean countries, coffee mixtures with an amount of Robusta are very popular. Many Espresso lovers think that the caffeine-rich Robusta bean gives the coffee the right spice.

Perennial shrub for the apartment or the winter garden. Crack the seed pod and presoak the coffee seeds in warm water for several hours (no longer than 1 day). To maintain the temperature, thermosflasks are suitable. Then, press them onto the sowing compost, don't cover them with soil, and bring them into muggy surroundings. Coffee seeds germinate best at approx. 25-30 (!) °C. Ideal location: Half shade. Protect from the midday sun. Lime-deficient irrigation water is convenient.
