Description

Cornichons are almost never grown to full size and eaten raw, but almost always pickled. If those cucumbers are harvested young, the robust fruits are very tasty marinated in vinegar and conserved.

In Germany pickled cucumbers are traditionally served on the morning after a heavy night of drinking. Harvest festivals usually end with what is known as "Kater Fruehstuck" -hangover breakfast, gammon, mash, sauerkraut and pickled gerkins.
