Description

The variety name 'Bonner Advent' already suggests that this savoy cabbage is a very late winter vegetable. It is sown in June or August and harvested after the winter in May. This May savoy produces beautiful big heads with green curly leaves and
promises really high yields.

'Bonner Advent' is an old vegetable variety, cultivated especially in the Vorgebirge, the region around Cologne and Bonn, and is the last remaining cultivar of the so-called Bonner advent vegetables, which were planted out in the field in late November and harvested in May. These cabbages were considered harbingers of spring and were traditionally enjoyed as cooked or steamed winter vegetables and vitamin C suppliers towards the end of the cold season.
