For a few years now edible flowers have made their comeback, with people remembering that they are not only lovely for decorating dishes but also have a wonderful taste. The edible flowers featured below are particularly aromatic and flavoursome,
with the power to add seasoning and freshness to your food.
For this 'edible flowers' seed kit, we selected the most attractive looking, wonderfully delicious culinary flowers for adding decorum to your table and to infuse your salads and meals with summery playfulness.
  • Borage (Borago officinalis)
Fresh chopped borage leaves lend a beautiful flavour to any cucumber salad, homemade dip or crème cheese spread and they also form one of the essential ingredients needed for preparing 'Frankfurter Grünen Sauce', the famous green sauce from Frankfurt. Its small, star-shaped blue flowers are also delicious added to salads, puddings and wild herb soups.
  • Chop Suey Green (Chrysanthemum coronarium)
The chop suey green plant forms beautiful and very aromatic yellow or yellow-white flowers, which are an essential spice for the traditional Chinese chrysanthemum-hotpot. The plant's leaves can also be used as herbs to season dishes.
  • Lemon marigold / golden marigold (Tagetestenuifolia)
Lemon marigold plants develop lots of lovely, small yellow flowers, whose flavour is slightly reminiscent ofcitrus fruits. The flowers are wonderful to infuse puddings and its leaves are even more commonly used as seasoning.
  • Garden nasturtium/ Monks cress/ Indian cress (Tropaeolum majus)
The garden nasturtium grows as an annual plant with garland-like, trailing stems and lots of extraordinarily large, vibrant orange-yellow flowers, in our climate. Their sharp flavour is surprisingly pronounced and not unlike cress.
