Description

Traditional white asparagus cultivar for earthing up. The asparagus variety 'Ruhm von Braunschweig' (Glory of Brunswick) is a very old white asparagus cultivar, which has completely disappeared from commercial horticulture by now.

However, this variety has a unique flavor, so many vegetable farmers regret the loss of the variety - and of course it is still possible in the home garden to cultivate this asparagus variety.

A. altilis, A. hortensis, Asparagus officinalis: Package with approx. 50 asparagus seeds

Growing instructions

Asparagus cultivation takes some patience, since the first harvest is possible after three years. However, a well-maintained asparagus patch will yield nice harvests for up to 15 years.
Sow from mid-March to late April right into the field. Sowing depth 1-2 cm. Only slightly cover the seeds with earth. For germination, asparagus needs 2-3 weeks at temperatures between + 10-20 °C. The plants should be pricked out to a distance of 10 cm with a row spacing of 30 cm.
In the second year, the plants can be planted at their final location about 25 cm deep at a distance of 30 cm. White asparagus loves light and warm soil - preferably sandy soil with little clay content.
