This variety was cultivated by the Amish People in the USA in the 18th century and is a traditional variety in America.
The Romaine Lettuce 'Rehzunge' grows very compact with star-shaped, huddled leaves. It doesn't form a head but grows similar to spinach. Its taste is strong and aromatic.

Due to the compact growth, it's also well suited for smaller gardens.

Preculture from February to April. Keep cool for the first 10 hours as, otherwise, germination could be hampered. Afterwards, keep warm. Only cover seeds with soil slightly - Light germinator! Plant out with a distance of approx. 30cm. Direct sowing outdoors is also possible.
