Description
The white-spotted Snake gourd reaches over 1m and is a widespread vegetable for cooking in India and an old Ayurvedic remedy. It's very decorative and grows straight or twisted hanging on a climbing trellis - especially the beautiful white blossoms that slightly remind of passionflowers make this tropical cucumber a visual highlight in the vegetable bed or greenhouse.
The preparation of the long and really snake-shaped fruits is similar to the one of the eggplant. Snake gourds are harvested young.

Sowing and care
Annual plant. Sowing: Preculture. Germinates at approx. 20°C. Cover the seeds with a layer of soil 1-2 times as thick as the seeds. Plant out strong plantlets or cultivate them in a greenhouse. To accelerate germination, it can be helpful to lightly rasp to seedpod.
