Description

Six white floral beauties for a garden full of light

A garden in white is anything but monotonous. Between pure white, cream and ivory-coloured flowers, subtle differences emerge that play with the light, leaf shapes and varying growth heights. Combined with dark green, silvery foliage or soft pastel tones, a calm, elegant garden atmosphere is created. This design principle became famous through the White Garden at Sissinghurst Castle in England, where white flowers were combined with green, grey and silver tones.

The “White Sea of Flowers” seed gift set brings together six very different plants that have one thing in common: their bright, luminous flowers. From delicate baby’s breath and fragrant woodland tobacco to airy gaura and the classic wild oxeye daisy, it creates a varied collection for light-filled beds, natural-style plantings and romantic garden areas. Each species is supplied in its own seed packet and can therefore be sown selectively and later combined individually.

Six white flowers for varied garden displays

Baby’s breath (Gypsophila paniculata)
Countless small white flowers form loose, cloud-like panicles and give beds an almost weightless effect. Perennial baby’s breath loves sunny, well-drained locations and is especially suitable for rock gardens, dry beds and as a companion plant to more strongly flowering perennials. It is also a popular classic as a cut flower.

Woodland tobacco / flowering tobacco (Nicotiana sylvestris)
The stately woodland tobacco originally comes from Bolivia and northwestern Argentina. Its long, pure white tubular flowers open on tall flower stems and release an intense fragrance, especially in the evening and night hours. This plant therefore brings not only height, but also a very special atmosphere to summer beds.

Gaura (Oenothera lindheimeri, syn. Gaura lindheimeri)
Gaura bears numerous white flowers on long, fine stems, which seem to float above the plant like small butterflies. From summer onwards, it develops into a long-lasting perennial bloomer and can continue flowering well into autumn in mild weather. Its loose growth habit combines especially beautifully with grasses and perennials.

Toothpick weed / khella (Ammi visnaga)
This impressive umbellifer forms large, finely structured white flower umbels and looks exceptionally elegant both in the bed and as a cut flower. Its strong umbel rays, which harden after flowering, were traditionally used as toothpicks in the Mediterranean region and the Orient. In addition, the plant has a long history as a medicinal and useful plant.

Wallflower 'Ivory White' (Erysimum cheiri)
'Ivory White' shows an unusually pale side of wallflower, which is otherwise known for strong colours. The flowers appear in soft ivory white and can develop a delicate lemon-yellow shimmer. This variety combines the classic appearance of a traditional garden plant with a restrained, elegant colour effect.

Wild oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare)
This native meadow flower is one of Europe’s best-known white wildflowers. Its large white ray florets surround a bright yellow centre and create clear accents among the finer flowers of the set. This perennial plant is suitable for natural-style beds, flower meadows and as a cut flower, and is visited by numerous insects.

White flower diversity for bees, bumblebees and other garden visitors

The different flower forms make the set visually varied, but not only that. Fine panicles, large umbels, classic daisy-like flowers and long tubular flowers appeal to different groups of insects. Depending on the plant species, bees, bumblebees, hoverflies, butterflies and other pollinators find nectar or pollen.

The combination of different growth heights is especially appealing. Woodland tobacco and baby’s breath bring height to the planting, while oxeye daisy, wallflower and gaura fill the middle areas. Toothpick weed connects the levels with its airy umbels. In this way, the six individual species can be used to create a lively white floral display.

Sowing and care of the White Sea of Flowers

As the gift set contains six different plant species, sowing time, germination behaviour and life cycle vary. Some species are well suited to protected pre-cultivation in spring, while others can be sown directly outdoors. Thanks to the individual seed packets, each plant can be cultivated according to its own requirements.

Most of the species included prefer a sunny location. Woodland tobacco also tolerates a somewhat fresher and more humus-rich spot, while baby’s breath and gaura thrive particularly well in loose, well-drained soils. During the germination phase, the substrate should be kept evenly moist, but waterlogging must be avoided.

The enclosed sowing instructions contain the most important information for growing the individual flower species. This allows the plants to be sown separately at first and later combined in the garden according to your own ideas to create a white sea of flowers.

A stylish gift for flower and garden lovers

The seed gift set contains one seed packet each of baby’s breath, woodland tobacco, gaura, toothpick weed, wallflower 'Ivory White' and wild oxeye daisy. Together, they create a versatile selection of perennials, summer flowers and wild plants with white to ivory-coloured flowers.

The six seed packets are supplied together with detailed sowing instructions in German and English in decorative gift packaging. This makes the “White Sea of Flowers” a sustainable gift for garden fans, flower lovers and everyone who enjoys creating their own garden from seed. Put together by gardeners for gardeners, the set combines elegant colour design with varied plants and genuine sowing pleasure.
