Description
The wild tulip is an indigenous wild tulip variety with fragrant, yellow blossoms. It's the only tulip variety that occurs wildly in Germany and, therefore, is on the Red List of endangered plants. In Rhineland, in viticultural climate, there are still wild stocks. Apart from that, it almost doesn't occur anymore.
The blossoms are edible and can be used as a decoration for creative desserts.

Sowing and care
Up to 25 cm high wild plant, flowers from April to May. Likes well-drained soils, likes to grow on meadows. Other than other cultivars, it can't be exclusively bred vegetatively but also well through seeds. The seeds usually germinate easily if you start them in preculture (do not transplant). It might take the plant three to four years until the first heyday. The received bulbs can be planted out again in late autumn after the foliage has withered.
