Traditional women’s herbs with stories of ancient plant wisdom, caring and inner balance
Women’s herbs are plants with a long history, rooted in herb gardens, home apothecaries, folk medicine and female wisdom handed down through generations. This seed kit contains six traditional women’s herbs for beds and borders, pots and herb gardens: chaste tree, wild carrot, lady’s mantle, yarrow, lemon balm and vervain.
This selection brings together ancient medicinal plants, resilient wild herbs, fragrant tea herbs and plants long associated with female herbal traditions, caring, inner balance and well-being. To create a special herb garden for women who want not just to grow plants but to experience their history, symbolism and quiet power in their own garden.
The kit contains these six medicinal plants
-
Chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus): a plant with a rich tradition in women’s healing practices – grows into a shrub with aromatic leaves and delicate flowers.
-
Wild carrot (Daucus carota ssp. carota): a native wild plant with delicate white umbel flowers that works beautifully in natural herb beds and insect-friendly plantings.
-
Lady’s mantle (Alchemilla xanthochlora): a classic women’s herb with velvety leaves, delicate flowers and a special significance in traditional herbal lore.
-
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium): resilient meadow and medicinal plant with delicate leaves and bright umbel flowers – a long-standing herb garden favourite.
-
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis): aromatic tea herb with a fresh citrusy fragrance, loved for teas, fragrant gardens and harvesting the tender leaves.
-
Vervain (Verbena officinalis): an old medicinal and ritual plant with delicate flower stems and a long tradition in herbal lore, customs and plant magic.
Traditional herbs for balance and well-being
The concept of women’s herbs refers not to any specific botanical group but to various herbs and medicinal plants that play a special role in traditional women’s healing practices. They have long been associated with women’s life phases, menstrual cycle awareness, herbal wisdom, inner balance and well-being. This kit draws on this herbal tradition – without reducing it to a narrow application.
Lady’s mantle, yarrow and chaste tree are among the most well-known women’s herbs. Lemon balm brings gentleness and fragrance to your herb garden. Vervain connects traditional herbal medicine, ancient customs and plant magic. Wild carrot completes the selection as a native umbellifer that adds structure to natural plantings and benefits insects.
Traditional medicinal plants for borders, pots and herb gardens
Many of the plants included here will grow well in herb gardens, borders or large pots. Lady’s mantle and yarrow are resilient garden plants that work well in natural plantings. Lemon balm grows vigorously, producing fresh leaves for harvesting. Vervain and wild carrot bring delicate floral structures to your beds and borders.
Chaste tree develops into a small shrub and needs a little more space and a warm, sheltered location. The varieties included have different requirements in terms of sowing, location and care. This is why they are packaged individually, ready for sowing according to their individual needs.
Not a ready-made seed mix but individually packed varieties
This kit is not a ready-made seed mixture. Each variety is packaged individually so you can grow, observe and harvest it just as you wish. Making this selection especially valuable for women who want to create their own women’s herb garden, discovering all the individual plants through the journey from seed to harvest.
Depending on the individual plant, the leaves, flowers, stems or fruits are traditionally gathered and dried. Using medicinal plants requires care and expertise, however. This kit has been created to offer seed for growing traditional herbs – it is not intended as a medical recommendation.
Beautifully packaged – a special gift for women
The seed comes packed in a high-quality gift box designed in the style of vintage botanical illustrations. Individual seed packets make it easy to plan and create your garden project. It’s perfect for women who love herb gardens, medicinal plants, old plant traditions, women’s wisdom and special seeds.
Sowing and growing
The medicinal plants in the kit have different sowing times and germination requirements. Some can be direct sown where you want them to grow, others will benefit from being started indoors, or might need longer to grow. Many women’s herbs prefer full-sun to semi-shade locations, free-draining soil and regular – but not excessive – watering.
For harvesting the plants are cut or collected at various times, depending on the individual species. Leaves and flowers can be carefully dried and stored for your personal herbal collection. A detailed sowing guide can be downloaded via the QR Code on the box. It includes instructions for sowing, growing and harvesting all the varieties and is available in five languages.
Important note on medicinal plants
The plants included in this kit are traditional medicinal plants. They should not be used instead of seeking medical advice. Especially during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, if you have medical complaints or are taking medications, you should seek expert advice before using them.
