Description
Annual honesty (Lunaria annua) is an attractive, easy-care plant known for its heart-shaped leaves and violet or white flowers in spring. Its most distinctive feature is its round to oval seed pods, which become transparent and silvery when ripe, giving the plant its name.
These seed pods are highly valued in floristry, as they add unique accents to bouquets, wreaths, or arrangements as dried flowers. For dry arrangements, they are harvested once mature and then hung in a dry place to fully dry, retaining their spectacular silver colour and shape.
Lunaria annua also attracts bees and other pollinators, making it a valuable plant for ecological gardens. It is excellent for wildflower gardens, perennial beds, or as a background plant in mixed borders, offering beauty and versatility both in the garden and as a dried flower.

Sowing and care
Cold germination: sow outdoors at the beginning of spring or in autumn. Alternatively you can use artificial stratification, as follows. Mix the seeds with moist sand in a plastic bag. Keep the bag warm and moist (approx. +20°C) for the first 2-4 weeks and then place it in the refrigerator and keep it at a temperature of +5°C for 5-6 weeks. Then remove the plastic bag from the refrigerator and remove the seed and sand mix from the bag. Keep the sand mix at room temperature and check the seeds regularly to see when they germinate. Prick the seedlings into pots and plant them out after the last frosts in mid-May.
