Description
Azuki is an East Asian, red bean with a sweet-aromatic taste. In Japan, sweet dishes and flour are made from the azuki bean. In general, it's used versatilely in the Japanese kitchen. It's generally considered better digestible than wide-spread, European garden beans, and a very good dry bean.
In TCM, the bean is also considered a medicinal plant and used against kidney problems, certain tumours, and abscesses.

Sowing and care
The adzuki bean is a climbing plant that can grow up to 2m high. Sow outdoors from mid-May or raise in indoor pre-culture first. Cultivation in a greenhouse is also possible. Harvest can be expected in September. Seeds of legumes often germinate better if they are pre-soaked in warm water for a few hours.
