Baby’s Breath, or Gypsophila, is a must-have herbaceous perennial for any flower garden. Its flowers are probably best known as the accompaniment to roses and many other cut flowers in traditional floral bouquets. Indeed these tiny, delicate blossoms are a real all-round talent – working well in bouquets and also in dried floral arrangements of all kinds. In a flower bed Baby’s Breath can fill any gap very effectively with its luxuriant, spreading growth and a sumptuous cloud of blossoms. Hundreds of tiny individual flowers on branching panicles give this herbaceous perennial a bush-like expansiveness and stature.

Sowing and care
Sumptuous, spreading perennial for a rock garden. Start indoors from mid-March or direct sow outdoors from mid-May. Needs light to germinate: simply scatter the seeds on the soil surface and press down lightly. Straightforward to grow. Protect young plants in flower beds from slugs and snails.
