Description
The drumstick plant also commonly known as billy buttons is a lovely, delicate perennial that is native to Australia and New Zealand. There it prefers warm, sunny locations and loves a rather dry and poor soil. In the central European climate it is usually not hardy and is therefore sown as a one-year summer flower.
Its special feature is the spherical inflorescence, which is made up of many yellow individual flowers and sits on a bare stem about 30 cm long. Cut the stem above the leaf rosette and you will indeed get the impression of a drumstick. The flower is easy to cut and will hold up very well in a bouquet or as a dried flower in a wreath or other floral arrangement.

Sowing and care
Mehrjährige Staude, nicht winterhart. Vorkultur im Haus ab März oder Direktsaat ins Freiland ab Mitte Mai möglich. Lichtkeimer. Die Samen nur dünn auf die Erde streuen und leicht andrücken. Nicht mit Erde bedecken. Bis zur Keimung gleichmäßig feucht und warm halten. Danach kühler stellen. Keimt unkompliziert bei ca. 20-25°C innerhalb von 2-3 Wochen.
Wir empfehlen die Vorkultur im Haus. Jungpflanzen können nach den letzten Nachtfrösten Mitte Mai ins Freiland umgepflanzt werden.
