Description
Colourful Floral Display with a Historic Fragrance
The sweet pea 'Bijou Mix' (Lathyrus odoratus) is a charming summer flower, bearing delicately shaped blooms in shades of violet, pink, rose and white. It is one of the most popular scented flowers for cottage and wildlife gardens, exuding an intense, sweet fragrance that has delighted garden enthusiasts since the 18th century.
The 'Bijou Mix' variety is noted for its compact growth habit, making it ideal for smaller supports, fences, containers and window boxes. It can also adorn free-standing stakes or small pergolas with its profuse flowering – perfect for sunny to partially shaded positions.
The inedible pods contain seeds for propagation but are not suitable for consumption. However, this sweet pea shines as an excellent cut flower: the more regularly blooming or faded flowers are removed, the longer it will reward you with its floral splendour.
