Description
Together with the common foxglove, as the medically most effective variety, it provides the commodity for the well-known Digitalis heart preparations. It's often grown for pharmaceutical purposes but is also a very decorative half-shrub for the garden.
As a medicinal plant for self-medication, the foxglove isn't suitable as it's very hard to dose and as the medicinal effect and the toxic effect lie close to each other.
Caution: The whole plant is very poisonous and is particularly dangerous for children!
