Radish 'Green Luobo' (Raphanus sativus) – Mild Asian Variety with Green Roots
'Green Luobo' is a Chinese radish with strikingly green, elongated roots and a particularly mild, slightly buttery flavour. This variety belongs to the group of Asian root vegetables and is well suited for growing in containers, raised beds, or garden plots – even in limited spaces. The plants grow compactly, mostly above ground, and have low demands in terms of soil and care.
As a mild radish, 'Green Luobo' develops its best flavour during the cooler months. Sow from late summer to early autumn. The roots then form a crisp texture without pungency or bitterness and store very well – ideal for use throughout autumn and winter.
Thanks to its resistance to pests and easy cultivation, this variety is particularly suitable for beginners. It also performs well as a follow-on crop after other vegetables, whether in the garden or raised bed.
In the kitchen, this green radish is extremely versatile: enjoy it raw in salads, Asian dishes, or as a mild snack, or cook, fry, pickle, or serve it as a side. The roots can be eaten with the skin on and offer a mild, refreshing taste.
