Description

Frühe Heinrich' is an old Dutch mangetout variety that tolerates light frost and produces tender, pale green pods. Few people realise that peas can be eaten raw straight from the plant. The young peas are especially sweet and a true delicacy.

Sugar peas are popular in Asian cuisine, but are also a traditional vegetable in Europe. The delicious pods of this old variety are cooked whole with the pod or can be eaten raw.

Sowing and care

Sow peas from March to May at a depth of 3-5 cm. Earth up the young plants once they are about 10 cm tall to stabilise them and provide twiggy sticks as climbing support. The young pods can be harvested from June onwards. Legume seeds often germinate better if soaked in water for a few hours before sowing.

Pflegeleicht & ertragreich
